MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
- QUALIFICATIONS - Membership is based upon personal qualifications and is not transferable.
Categories of eligibility:
- MEMBER -
- Active or retired commissioned and warrant officers (Regular or Reserve) of the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force and other organizational entities of the United States engaged in naval engineering.

Other persons actively engaged in, or retired from, the practice of naval engineering or teaching within one of the broad aspects of naval engineering. (Recommending Member Required)
- ASSOCIATE MEMBER - All persons who are not eligible as Members but who are especially interested in naval engineering.
- STUDENT MEMBER - Full time students in a curriculum related to naval engineering for the bachlor's or higher degree, until the end of the Society's fiscal year in which they graduate or are separated from the school. Students who join ASNE will automatically become members of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) as long as they maintain their Student Member status with ASNE.
- SPOUSE MEMBER - The spouse of any current member who would be eligible for membership on his or her own merits. Spouse Members have all the rights and privileges of full membership but do not receive the Naval Engineers Journal or other routine mailings.
All persons eligible are admitted upon application and payment of annual dues provided that the application is approved by the ASNE Membership Committee.

- MEMBER EMERITUS - Any Member or Associate Member, after 25 years of membership and having reached the age of 62 may, upon written request, be made a Member or Associate Member Emeritus.
- DUES - The annual dues effective July 1, 2002, are as follows:
- Member & Associate Member age 30 and over: $95
- Member & Associate Member under age 30: $45
- Student Members: $35
- Emeritus: $35
- Spouse* Members: $20
- * Eligible spouses of eligible Members; one set of mailings, both eligible to vote.
- PRIVILEGES - Associate and Student Members shall have all the privileges of Members except the right to vote or hold office. All members (except Spouse Members) shall receive the Naval Engineers Journal, a value of $48.
